A View from the Stacks

There are definite benefits to my school library operation being an almost one-woman show. Granted, there are days when the multitude of tasks tax my ability to accomplish them all. Yet shelving, straightening up, repairing books, and checking in returnees give me an opportunity I might not have if someone else were responsible for these jobs. On many an occasion I have uncovered a treasure while being occupied with seemingly mundane chores. Here are a few of the gems unearthed:

When a giant panda mysteriously appears on a neighbor’s farm, far from its natural habitat, Lu Yi and his family find themselves involved in the Chinese government’s effort to save the beautiful and endangered creatures.

Bouncy rhymes are only part of the fun as a boy and a  lovable bear take a delightful trip through Berryland.  This is one book that kids will want to hear and read again and again.

When Harry helps a strange elderly man at a bus stop, he is rewarded with a bottle containing a mysterious liquid.  What happens next changes the 11-year-old’s life in unimaginable ways.
